Introducing the EarthSmart Green Rate from PSNH.
Thanks to the EarthSmart Green Rate, supporting renewable energy couldn’t be easier. Simply sign up for membership* and your monthly contribution goes toward the development of renewable energy in New England. This is a great way for you to put your interest in the environment into action.
Benefit of contributing to the Green Rate
Your Green Rate contributions will help create a market for renewable energy and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. In addition, it’s estimated that the average Green Rate customer will remove 1,600 pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2) from the environment annually, which means the impact of your membership will be both immediate and meaningful.
Here’s how it works:
Depending on your level of membership, PSNH will buy Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) equal to 25%, 50%, or 100% of your monthly energy use. Those certificates provide revenue to renewable energy suppliers and are equivalent to purchasing power directly from them.
Costs
After you choose a 25%, 50%, or 100% contribution level, the monthly contribution** is calculated based on the Green Rate for the contribution level you have chosen and your actual monthly energy use. The monthly contribution of a residential customer—based on energy use of 500 kilowatt-hours per month—will be $4.48 at the 25% level and $17.90 at the 100% level.
The EarthSmart Green Rate is an open membership, which means you’re a member for as long as you choose to support the program. In addition, you’re free to change your contribution level or opt out of the program each month.
