Fossil Fuel Power Plants

Schiller StationPSNH’s fossil fuel power plants include:

PSNH’s fleet also includes five “peaking units” that are designed to burn jet fuel and natural gas. These units contribute to regional reliability and operate in times of high demand and when needed for transmission system reliability. Nominally rated at approximately 20 megawatts each, these units are located in Bow (2 units), Groveton, Tamworth, and Portsmouth.

Together, PSNH’s fossil fuel power plants play a key role in the production of economic and reliable electricity for PSNH customers. Using diverse fuel sources to generate power allows PSNH to take advantage of the best fuel prices available and keep energy costs lower for its customers.
