Electric suppliers without sufficient renewable energy sources can demonstrate that they support renewable energy by purchasing RECs. Electricity from the Northern Wood Power Project will not only serve the needs of New Hampshire customers, but will help electric suppliers in other states meet their regulatory obligations.

The emerging market for RECs is already in high demand, and is expected to grow significantly in the foreseeable future. PSNH anticipates that the Northern Wood Power Project will generate between 300,000 and 400,000 RECs annually. Proceeds from the sale of RECs will offset the cost of the Project.
