Goals

By converting the fuel source for power generation from coal to wood chips, The Northern Wood Power Project will positively impact New Hampshire’s natural and economic environments:

• 50 megawatts of cleaner, greener electricty...enough to power approximately 50,000 New Hampshire homes.

• Reduction of coal use by over 130,000 tons annually – one-third of the fossil fuel used to power Schiller Station’s turbines.

• A reduction each year of thousands of tons of emissions.

• Reducing dependence on fossil fuels by converting to a locally available renewable fuel source.

• Providing a new and significant wood chip market for New Hampshire’s forest industry.

• A key company goal is to have customer rates unaffected by the project.
