Source & Supply
Northern Wood Power is situated in one of the most heavily forested states in the nation, providing access to a plentiful supply of clean wood chips.

New England forests not only offer a substantial volume of low-grade wood, they also regenerate significantly faster than most of the world's forests. With responsible management, local forests can be harvested, regenerated, and reharvested within 15 to 20 years.

The majority of the fuel for Northern Wood Power comes from New Hampshire forests; however, smaller amounts of wood chips are imported from Maine, Massachusetts, and even Connecticut.

"There exists within the state of New Hampshire a substantial opportunity to increase the use of wood chip energy in a manner consistent with sustainable forestry practices. The present decline in the pulp and paper industry reinforces the need for an alternative market for low-value wood, which would revitalize rural economies and support lumber production and other forest industries."
