Philosophy
PSNH supports initiatives throughout the state that benefit the company's
business environment while improving the quality of life for New Hampshire
residents. PSNH considers initiatives that are consistent with the company's
values of being environmentally and socially responsible, committing
to a diverse workforce, providing a stimulating workplace, and making
New Hampshire a good place to live.
Priorities
Ideally, initiatives should benefit the communities where
our customers or employees are located and qualify under one
or more of the company's priorities for giving which are:
- Economic Opportunity
PSNH recognizes that the economic vitality of the communities
it serves is critical for the state's economic well-being,
as well as the company's own success. PSNH also recognizes
the power of collective efforts and as such seeks to primarily
support initiatives that:
- improve economic conditions
of targeted populations and/or communities
- advance student
education and pursuit of career goals, especially those
that serve as PSNH recruitment resources
- work in concert
with local and state economic development programs
- improve
the capacity of existing and emerging professional, industry,
cultural, and arts organizations
- increase quality and
membership/citizen participation within organizations
- Environmental Stewardship
PSNH plays an active role in environmental stewardship
and primarily supports initiatives that focus on conservation,
protecting, preserving or improving the environment, and
preserving natural habitats through:
- education programs
- leadership development
- community or organizational
project collaborations and partnerships
- Social Responsibility
PSNH recognizes the vital role that the non-profit sector
plays in maintaining and improving quality of life in
New Hampshire. PSNH also recognizes that economic, social,
and demographic changes present challenges and opportunities
for non-profits. PSNH is primarily interested in investing
in organizations that:
- offer programs or services that
respond to social, economic and demographic changes
- improve organizational and diversified leadership
- increase
the scope and quality of inter-community or organizational
collaboration and community-building
- implement innovative
strategies that address basic human needs
- improve community
safety, preparedness, and disaster relief services
PSNH meets
most of its Social Responsibility giving through funding of the United
Way and at this time PSNH is only considering requests under the Economic Opportunity
and Environmental Stewardship areas of giving.
Eligibility Requirements
Organizations seeking support must be:
- Registered as a
New Hampshire non-profit organization
- Approved by the IRS
as a 501- c (3) organization
- Located in communities where
PSNH customers, employees and communities are served
- Serving
the community without discrimination
Support Restrictions
PSNH corporate giving
does not
support:
- Individuals
- Limited
groups (religious, fraternal, political)
- Sporting events, facilities, organizations,
and individual leagues and teams
- Annual funds of hospitals,
colleges, universities, grade schools or high schools
- Endowments
- Reducing
or eliminating debt
Types of Support
- Location:
In addition to offering statewide grants, PSNH offers regional grants
based on the project's impact within an area of PSNH's service territory.
If you intend to apply for such a grant, determine the name of the
appropriate PSNH regional division by checking the
PSNH Service Territory by Division map (PDF File Format 418KB).
- Contributions:
Generally support specific program,
service or projects. Contribution levels range widely and
are primarily determined by the scope and impact of the proposed
program, service or project.
- Sponsorships:
Generally support events or one-time
projects that increase visibility and promotion of the organization,
provides opportunities for community/member involvement, increases
the organization's financial capacity and/or membership.Sponsorship
levels vary widely and are determined by the scope and impact
of the event or project.
Requesting Support
Prior to submitting your request, a phone call to the appropriate community relations manager serving your area to discuss your proposed project or event is required.
