NH Division of Parks and Recreation Received Grant from PSNH

(Concord, NH) The New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation has received a $20,000 Economic Development Grant from Public Service of New Hampshire.  Monies will be used to provide interpretive programming at New Hampshire State Parks to help increase visitation and improve guest satisfaction.  The new program funded through the grant is called “Discover the Power of Parks.”

“PSNH is excited about partnering with the Division of Parks and Recreation,” stated Patrick McDermott, PSNH Economic & Community Development Manager.  The three-way partnership also includes The Student Conservation Association of Charlestown, NH, who will provide the training and support for program interpreters.

“Through offering a variety of interactive opportunities, the division hopes to increase the number of visitors to our state parks, as well as introduce them to the resources available in these beautiful New Hampshire properties”, stated Allison McLean, Director of the New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation.

Discover the Power of Parks programming will be presented at Bear Brook State Park, Pawtuckaway State Park, Greenfield State Park, Monadnock State Park, and Franconia Notch State Park throughout the summer.

The NH Division of Parks and Recreation is part of the Department of Resources and Economic Development and manages 72 state parks, campgrounds, historic sites, trails, and natural waysides.  For information about NH State Parks, visit www.nhstateparks.org or call 603/271-3556.
