- Improve your exhaust and ventilation system. While you need your ventilation
system to remove heat, odors, and smoke from the cooking area, too much ventilation
can mean excessive energy use from either running the ventilation equipment
itself, or by unnecessarily conditioning too much "fresh air" that replaced
the air exhausted. You may consider:
- Installing an energy-efficient exhaust hood, which draws in outside air
at its perimeter and avoids using conditioned air normally taken out by the
exhaust air stream.
- Installing side curtains around cooking equipment to avoid the necessary
exhaust fan velocity.
