For Canadians, a chance to meet, greet . . and eat

The state Department of Resources and Economic Development will be courting Canadian businesses this week at a dinner for 25 Toronto companies.

"The main goal is to let them know about operating a business in New Hampshire in case they're looking to do an expansion or relocation, or are looking for a U.S. presence," said Michael Bergeron, one of the state's business recruiters.

Bergeron said it generally takes between two and three years from the time a business first considers New Hampshire to the time it relocates or opens a branch here. He said the dinner, sponsored by Public Service of New Hampshire, could be the first step.

"It's getting the word out that New Hampshire is hungry for business," he said.
