Gary A. Long is President and Chief Operating Officer
for Public Service Company of New Hampshire (PSNH), a subsidiary of
the Northeast Utilities System (NU).
A native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Long holds a bachelor of science
degree in electrical engineering from New Mexico State University and
a master of science degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern
University.
Long joined PSNH in 1976 as an assistant engineer, after serving as
an officer in the United States Air Force. Since that time, he has held
various positions at PSNH in the areas of marketing, customer service,
regulatory affairs, governmental relations, economic development, and
rates. Mr. Long was PSNH's principal representative in the development
and implementation of electric utility restructuring in New Hampshire
following the passage of the State's electric utility restructuring
law in 1996 and various revisions thereafter.
He has been actively involved in working with the company's commercial,
industrial, and wholesale customers and has testified numerous times
before the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission, the State Legislature
and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
In February 2000, Long assumed the position of Senior Vice President
responsible for marketing, corporate communications, customer services,
governmental affairs and economic development. He assumed his present
position on July 1, 2000. In May, 2006, he was named "2006 Business Leader of the Year" by Business NH Magazine.
Long is a member of the Advisory Council of Junior Achievement of New
Hampshire, a board member of Amoskeag Industries, Inc., the New Hampshire
Business Committee for the Arts, the Business and Industry Association,
The New Hampshire Forum on Higher Education, the Greater Manchester
Chamber of Commerce and the Manchester Development Corporation. He is
a graduate of Leadership Greater Manchester and Leadership New Hampshire.
He has been an Easter Seal VIP since 1993. He was PSNH's United Way
Chairman and Northeast Utilities 1996 United Way Chairman. He is a past
board member of the Manchester East Catholic Regional School System.
For over 15 years, Long had coached youth soccer in various leagues
in Manchester.
Vice President - Energy Delivery and Generation
John M. MacDonald is Vice President – Energy Delivery and Generation for Public Service Company of New Hampshire (PSNH), a subsidiary of the Northeast Utilities System (NU).
MacDonald is responsible for the oversight of the company's Energy Delivery Division, providing engineering, maintenance and capital improvements of the electric system; and the Generation Division, comprised of three steam generation stations and nine hydroelectric stations. |

A native of Old Lyme, Connecticut, MacDonald is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York, with a degree in mechanical engineering. He holds a master of business administration degree from the University of New Haven and is a graduate of Penn State's Executive Management Program and Leadership New Hampshire class of 2003.
MacDonald joined NU in 1981 as an engineer, after serving as an officer in the U.S. Naval Reserves and in the U.S. Merchant Marines, achieving the rank of chief engineer. Since that time, he has held various positions at NU in the areas of engineering, planning, maintenance and hydroelectric power. In 1995, he assumed the role of director of Generation with overall responsibility for PSNH's power plant facilities. In this position he led the division to higher levels of environmental compliance programs, such as the first U.S. application of SCR technology, as well as multi-fuel diversification programs. He assumed his present position on May 1, 2001. He has expanded the PSNH distribution line network and substations to maintain reliability of service to 480,000 customers in New Hampshire, while moving forward to interconnect more renewable power sources and diversify PSNH’s generation fleet to include cost-effective, biomass wood burning capabilities.
MacDonald is a member of the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies (AEIC) and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). He currently is serving his third term on the New Hampshire Air Resources Council and has been appointed to the Gulf of Maine Council as a Private Sector representative. MacDonald is a past Chair of the board of directors of Special Olympics New Hampshire. He is an active supporter of the American Lung Association, the Easter Seal’s VIP program since 1995 and the United Way for the past 25 years.
